Essential oil roller blend recipes

I never would have envisioned myself using an essential oil roller ball blend. This all stemmed from an old bottle of lavender oil I had received as a gift and never touched. I had just gotten into making DIY products at home and thought I would try my hand at making a massage oil – Purely strategic because I wanted a massage! (And the plan totally worked by the way!)

I mixed a few drops of lavender oil with a few tablespoons of fractionated coconut oil and left the little bottle on my bedside table. I found myself reaching for it before bedtime – I would smooth it on my wrists, behind my ears and down the back of my neck. The scent comforted me and helped me relax… Which is when I knew I needed more. If you want to know a little bit more about oils, you can read my Beginners Guide to Essential Oils here. I always thought I would need to go mad with buying several scents but it’s really not the case. Here are a few of my favourite roller oil blend recipes.

You will need:

Roller balls – I buy mine here, you can also purchase your roller bottle labels here too!
Essential oils of your choice – I buy mine here.*
Carrier oil – I use fractionated coconut oil (but you can use jojoba or almond oil) – I buy it here.

Method:

Add the following essential oils to your roller ball, top with carrier oil and shake.

Sleep Blend

4 drops lavender oil
4 drops lemongrass oil
I apply this to the back of my neck, wrists and behind my ears at bedtime. It assists in relaxing me and helping me fall to sleep.

Energy Blend

4 drops lemon oil
4 drops peppermint oil
I love to apply this first thing in the morning on the back of my neck or at around 3pm when I am doing preschool pick up. It refreshes me and assists with my focus and concentration.

Wellness Blend

4 drops lavender oil
2 drops peppermint oil
2 drops eucalyptus oil
I love to apply this on my neck, collarbone, chest and back of my neck when I’m feeling like I need an immunity boost.

These dilutions are meant as a guide only. Everyone responds differently to essential oils, you may be able to tolerate more essential oil or may need to use less (due to skin sensitivity issues). Consult with your health care professional. These blends are not intended to cure, treat or prevent any disease and if you choose to make any of these recipes, they are to be used at your own risk.
